Black Veterans Empowerment Council Holds National Convening in Washington D.C.

The Black Veterans Empowerment Council (BVEC) is a coalition of over 19 national, state, and local veteran serving organizations formed to address the racial disparities of black veterans and advance opportunities provided to those who have been historically marginalized. On June 23rd-24th, BVEC assembled government agencies, corporate partners, elected officials, and veteran community leaders for the inaugural National Convening hosted in Washington DC. This historic occasion was sponsored by BVEC partners organizations like Microsoft, Boeing, and Nike.

Amerivet Public Finance Associate, James Fitzgerald, traveled to D.C. to join this distinguished group of veteran leaders on behalf of the AmeriVet Securities team. James was able to connect with leading industry experts to learn new & innovative solutions to better address the long-standing racial, social and economic inequities suffered by Black veterans of the United States Military. Event speakers included Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough, Secretary of the Department of Labor Martin J. Walsh, and Commissioner of New York City’s Department of Veterans Services James Hendon.
