In Chicago, high school counselors, on average, are assigned to 444 students to support throughout their four years. Often, this leaves many students without the proper support needed to prepare for post-high school life. iMentor is a non-profit organization that pairs students from under-served communities with mentors to address this problem. Students paired with a mentor had a higher graduation rate and a concrete post-high school plan.
AmeriVet Securities, in partnership with Brighthouse Financial Foundation, supported Chicago iMentor’s Bears vs. Packers recruitment event on Sunday, October 17th. Over 30 people in attendance wanted to learn how they can be a mentor to a high school student attending a Chicago Public School (CPS). At the end of the event, over 10 people had signed up to be a mentor.
