Markets To Closely Watch Inflation Data–WSJ “Market Talk”

By: Paulo Trevisani (paulo.trevisani@wsj.com)

Markets “remain hungry for daylight on the inflation side and with regards to the Fed’s end game,” AmeriVet’s Gregory Faranello says in his daily note to clients. He believes investors this week will be watching for the PCE inflation gauge, which is seen as a key measure for monetary policy. “Just as the Fed highlights inflation expectations; market-based measures have been trending lower since March and the Fed’s first rate hike,” Faranello says. “Slowing economic data that brings inflation in tow will be good for markets going forward…And interest rate markets are trying to sift through this dynamic of inflation versus growth.”
