Since mid-March, the NYC Veterans Alliance has been helping veterans and their families with the realities they’re facing during the COVID-19 pandemic.   Our Head of Veteran Engagement Mercedes Elias has been one of many veteran volunteers supporting NYC Veterans Alliance staff conducting outreach to NYC veterans and getting them connected to much needed resources.  Whether it’s an emergency hotel stay when housing programs fail, or nutritious groceries when they’re too expensive or unavailable, or help with overdue essential bills, or just a knowledgeable, friendly fellow veteran to check in with, the Veterans Mutual Aid Network has helped to support hundreds of veterans throughout NYC and surrounding areas.
