Seeing is Believing: Margaret Corbin & Military Women Since 1776

April 22, 2019

Women veterans make up nearly 11.6% of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. NYC Veteran’s Alliance hosted a panel on women veterans in history, the consequences of women veterans not being visible, and how women veterans are leading efforts to close gaps in healthcare and services for women veterans while also advocating for equal opportunity for all who serve, regardless of gender or gender identity. The event was moderated by staff from genEquality, an organization who advocates for gender equality to better society and cultures.   Panelists consisted of representatives from New York Historical Society, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, Code Academy, as well as Jennifer Long who is a pioneer in transgender service member rights. NYC Veteran’s Alliance empowers veterans, families, and civilian allies to connect as a community, advocate for improved policies, and advance as civic leaders.
