10-Year Treasury Yield Closes Higher Than 2-Year

Wednesday, April 6th, 2022 — Market Talk

The 10-year Treasury yield gains 0.145 percentage point to 2.554%, undoing Friday’s curve inversion as the two-year rises just 0.076 p.p. to 2.502%. The shape of the curve is under the effect of increasing volatility, AmeriVet’s Gregory Faranello tells WSJ, noting that Fed’s Brainard today reinforced the central bank’s commitment to fighting inflation.

“There was no new information, but it’s not what is being said but who is saying it.” Faranello says Brainard’s hawkishness may have increased bets on a 50-basis point rate increase in May.
