In conjunction with the Yonkers VFW Post 1666, the Women Marines Association NY-6 and Family Services of Westchester hosted a Veterans Day ceremony, which also recognized the Marine Corps birthday and was followed by a luncheon for veterans in the local area.  Our Head of Veteran Engagement, Mercedes Elias, currently serves as the Vice President of the Women Marines Association NY-6 Chapter.  This chapter is named after  Corporal Ramona Valdez, a Dominican-born United States Marine who was a native of the Bronx and killed in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom by a suicide bomber.
