AmeriVet Securities’ head of veteran engagement Mercedes Elias, who is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, sat on a panel hosted by the NYU military alliance highlighting female service members. The Women Wear Combat Boots Too panel honored women veterans who have and are still serving in the military. The event was hosted to bring more awareness to women veterans and allow them to share their stories. The panel discussed the female service member’s transitions from active duty, issues with VA healthcare, and how they were able to overcome challenges to land successful careers in finance, healthcare, tech industries, journalism and education.
