Women Veterans Day with Chicago Veterans

June 12, 2021

Our Veterans Engagement Associate Sidney Covington celebrated Women Veterans’ Day with Chicago Veterans, VFW Post 8322, and American Legion. The first Women Veterans Day was held June 12, 2018, marking the 70th anniversary of the groundbreaking Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, signed into law by President Harry S. Truman on June 12, 1948. That law enabled women to serve as permanent, regular members of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and the recently formed Air Force.

Chicago Veterans is a non-profit organization that helps Chicago’s veterans transition from service to civilian life through social connectedness, employment readiness, and educational peer mentorship. You can learn more about them at https://chicagovets.org/about-us/
